Archery
There
are four archery events held at the Olympics: Men's Individual,
Women's Individual, Men's Team and Women's Team. Archers used to shoot
a double FITA round of 288 total arrows, with the championship decided
by the highest total score. In an effort to make the sport more exciting,
the format was changed to head-to-head elimination for the top 64
competitors beginning with the 1992 Olympics.

Badminton
Made-for-television
radar guns instantly flash the speed of serves, volleys and pitches
to the sporting public around the world these days, but few viewers
could name the world's fastest racket sport. The title belongs to
badminton.
The
1992 Olympic games in Barcelona saw the first appearance of badminton.
Olympic badminton consists of a single-elimination tournament. Each
match is played to the best of three games. Games are to 21 points.
Rally scoring is used, meaning a player does not need to be serving

Baseball
Baseball
made its debut on the Olympic stage as a demonstration sport at
the Stockholm Olympic Games in 1912, but it was not until the Los
Angeles 1984 Olympic Games that baseball was fully-embraced as an
Olympic fixture, albeit as a demonstration sport. They'rrre
out! Olympics drop baseball, softball Sports eliminated for 2012
Games, but could win way back in 2016.
As
for softball, no one has ever said anything about its removal
other than the mere fact that the American women dominate their sport
as though they are the only lineup on the planet. Indeed, so far,
no one has gotten a hit off them in 2008. Apparently, being the best
has its problems.

Canoe / Kayak
Even
though canoeing and kayaking are centuries old activities, they
weren't introduced to the Olympics until the 1924 Games. 12 years
later, in 1936, flatwater canoe / kayak racing gained full Olympic
event status. In 1972, the whitewater version of canoe / kayak known
as Slalom was added to the Olympics.
From the endurance
flatwater demands to the precision whitewater requires, canoe kayak
highlights a wide scope of athleticism. Athletes compete in races
on a calm course, or against a clock down rapids, either in a canoe
or a kayak.

Equestrian
Men
vs women - Along with sailing, equestrian is the only Olympic
sport where men and women compete against each other. Inspired by
the chariot races of the ancient Greek games, it is also the only
Olympic sport in which humans and animals are teammates.
China

riders, including the Eton schoolboy Alex Hua Tian, achieved the minimum
standards to take up the host nation's allocated berths for the Aug.

Although
dating back over 1200 years before the Ancient Olympic Games,
the sport of field hockey did not appear on the Olympic programme
until the 1908 London Games. Hockey returned to the Games in 1920
and again in 1928, and has been a part of the Olympic programme since
that time. Women's field hockey first appeared at the Olympic Games
